  1. Hello,

Using QuickTime 6.1.1 (PRO) I try to export to .mpg-4 a .mpg-1 movie that plays fine in QT with sound. The resulting .mpg4 file has no sound

    any advice?

  3. ok,

the .mpg i want to convert is a MPEG1 muxed

when i use mme it says: The variable theAudio is not defined. (-2753) and quits.....

file runs perfect in QT 6. when i use qt6 to convert to mpg4 i get video fine but 0 audio.

  4. Well, right now QT Pro still has problems with muxed MPEG-1/2 files... here is my suggestion:

Use bbDEMUX to demultiplex the video and audio... the original file will remain.

Create a new, empty movie in QT Pro, then open the demuxed audio and video files.

Copy->Paste the video into the new movie, do the same with the audio, but I would select the whole length of the new movie and use 'Add scaled' in the edit menu. This gives more consistent results and helps ensure reliable splicing and sync.

Use the export option like normal, enjoying an .mp4 with sound.

I personally don't like converting heavily compressed formats like DivX or MPEG unless I absolutely need it in another format. (DivX fansubs to SVCD MPEG-2 for my DVD player for example) The quality drops, and there is very little you can do about it.
Slaughtering the competition with amatuer-quality VCD authoring abilities... fear my non-l33t skillz.

  5. Ross,

ok i tried mme once again and found that i did not wait long enough for it to go through the motions ---- it uses bbdemux ....

so i was left with a demuxed mpg 1 file. then i converted that file in QT to my desired mp4

    thanks!!!!!
