i have a sony vaio w/ p4 1.8 and 512 sddram. i love my computer overall and it performs well. sometimes during editing in premiere or moviemaker if i move things around a bit quick i can lock up. i dont mean crash i just mean lock up for 20-30 secs. i assume it to be normal as real time edit and play must be taxing. i also from time to time experience a delay when opening a folder or file i also assume its a normal thing? correct? for the most part its lightning quick and encodes well.
ive lately been experimenting with my pagefiles trying to find the right sizes to allocate. i have a maxtor 80 gig hd split into 20 and 60 gigs, the c drive by default had a pagefile of 766 i then upped to 1000 and im unsure if i saw any improvement . (maybe) but the d drive had no pagefile setup so i set one there at 1000 also and it seems to be running a bit quicker and smoother. shoud i leave the system like this? any opinions on sizes and if i should have a pagefile on each drive? i also read your pagefile shouldnt be on the same drive as your windows files. please give all in put and dont tell me to defrag please this is beyond the regular maintenance.
should i consider overclocking?
