Well up to now i've been useing instantcopy and i thought the program was perfect, but then i realized the stupid program refuses to use up the entire disc.As most DVD-R's i've created with it are only about 4.10 with some even lower than that.

So whats a better program out there, thats just as easy to use as instantcopy but makes full use of the DVD-R size? I'm really considering DVD2One now,as i see that they have FINALLY upgraded it to copy the "full disk" with all menus and extras now.Although it tottally sucks that you can't try out the full disk feature unless you buy it,is it worth it? Is the quality good? Does it allow you to customize other stuff than what audio/subtitle tracks are included?

And what about those other programs out there?

C'mon now 50 page views and no replys?

Anyhow i'm leaning towards buying DVD2One.Instantcopy just ain't worth it,99% of the time it wastes at least 300MB or more of disc space and it takes way too damn long to process everything. But don't get me wrong, the time it takes would be well worth it if it processed stuff correctly but it does NOT,so that just adds to its cons.

And whats the use of the customize feature in instantcopy,if the damn program is just going to do whatever the hell it wants anyway? If DVD2One works out i'm selling instantcrappy.

  5. I have been using DVD2one for some time now and havent had any problems whatsoever. It seems to produce pretty good quality video and is easy to use. Takes me about 35-50 minutes to compress...

Are you talking about the quality for just the movie or the full disc copy? I want to keep all the menus and most extras as well like i've been doing with instantcopy.

I have DVD2one and DVDshrink on my computer.. I use both..

I love DVDShrink more than DVD2one...

  8. I've used both DVD2One and DVD Shrink and I have to give my nod to DVD2One mainly because it does allow you to use the whole disk every time. With DVDShrink you have to choose a level to compress at and it usually leaves some unused space. DVDShrink has a few more options than DVD2One, but I like the fact that DVD2One customizes every compression so that you use every available MB every single time. Both are extremely easy to use. Quality wise, I think that they're about equal.

I just bought DVD2one.Hell yeah! Now thats a program. It backed up the entire DVD with menus and extras. The quality was great and it used up the full size of the DVD.

To hell with the blundering and wastefull instantcopy.

  10. You should have tried DVD95Copy. Far more feature rich than DVD2One for backing up full DVDs and much better support from the author. I too am a registered DVD2One user and to be honest, I dont even bother dowloading updates anymore.

But.. to answer your question, there really is no 1 program that you can rely on all the time. There are different scenarios where you need to use different programs. For example, if the DVD is 6GB or so, then I'll use DVD95Copy or Instant Copy, reduce the extras down to about 50% then see what's left over for the main movie.

If the DVD is larger and I want to keep menus, etc, I'll use DoItFast4U, DoCCEForU and Reauthorist and re-encode the whole movie with CCE. This method owns but it takes a lot of time and patience to learn to use it. The quality is phenominal, though.

If the movie itself is really big and all Im interested in is the main movie, I'll use DVD2DVDR, rip the main movie and re-encode with CCE. Again, excellent quality but takes a little getting used to.

Finally, if I dont want any quality loss at all, I'll just use DVDXCopy.

So, as you can see, there are a lot of scenarios to consider.

Naaa i believe DVD2One is plenty good enough. It's fast, does a great job and is just a few updates away from being perfect.

If you have long extra (ex: "making of" over 60 minutes) don't tell me you'r happy with the quality !

DVD2one would be perfect if you could choose the compression of everything (extra and movie separatly) which DVDShrink does for free !

DVD2one is good for no extra DVD else, you need to make Movie only..

Yeah i see what you mean, but i don't have very many of those DVDs with tons of extras.Mainly i'm into buying Episodic anime and cartoon DVDs,which usually only consist of about 6 episodes packed on 1 DVD with a few trailors. So i don't think i'm wasteing that much.

And like i said earlier,a few more updates and DVD2One will be perfect.I agree about the whole compression thing and being able to choose which parts of the DVD get the best/worst quality. That would be good.

why did you buy DVD2One?, when DVDShrink does exactly the same thing and looks more promising?. DVD2One has been really slow with feature updates

you shudda bought DVD95Copy Star Warrior, then you coulda done what I do with IC and DVD95Copy and use them both together and get absolutely top quality main movie quality and 4.37Gb for about 5-10 mins user input or just use DVD95Coppy by itself

    guide is HERE

there is also a guide there to get rid of all the crap you don't really want HERE

I knew about dvdshrink, never used it before though. And DVD2one seemed like a really reliable program so i gave it a shot. It's not perfect but so far it has done what instantcopy could not and its just a few feature updates away from being perfect.

As for DVDshrink,i've downloaded it but hav'ent had the time to look at it much.Perhaps i may use it later.
