I am starting to capture several HI 8
tapes using Pinnacle Express.I notice I get 4Gig a capture.Win98Se.Is it possible to burn these files to a dvd disc for archiving
and later authoring? Is this cost efective or is there a better way?
I have spent some time looking for
an answer on this site to no avail![]()

If you need to get them off your harddrive then saving them as data to a DVD would work and save you the trouble of re-capturing later. Of course, saved as data you will not be able to play them in a stand-alone DVD player, only on a computer DVD-Rom player. You would have a DVD-ROM not a DVD video.
As far as cost, I think a Hi-8 tape and a DVD-R cost about the same, around 5 dollars. So you should probably just keep your Hi-8 tapes for archiving and then only capture when you had time to edit and author a video DVD.
