    I have followed the guide next door about cutting an avi with virtual dub. These are he steps that I have followed:

    1. select audio direct stream
    2. select video direct stream
    3. select the beginning of the clip that i want to delete
    4. select the end of the clip that i want to delete
    5. press delete and it goes away
    6. then i save avi as a new file name

    When I open the new avi the portion that I thought i deleted is still there.
    I repeate the above listed steps but instead of saving avi, I saved avi segment or something like that. By saving avi segment i was able to delete the portion of the avi that i did not want but it was now a huge noncompressed avi.

    I would like to know what I may have done during the first procedure or Iwould like to know how to recompress the new avi or both.

    Thanks in advance,

    VC
    This is so much fun!

  2. In virtualdub,
    select video->direct stream copy,
    audio->direct stream copy,
    video-> select range
    setting only frames,
    set start frame to 50 (or 2 * your framerate)
    set end frame to zero

    file-> save as AVI

    This should do it
