  1. as topic says xp only see's my pioneer ao4 dvd-rw as a cd-rom

    i have all the latest aspi drivers and software updates but still no joy, it says cdrom but dont read anything + it was fine this morn in my old p-2

    p-4 2.5gig
    512 ddr ram
    xp home
    120gig hdd

  2. Do you have the DVD-R/RW device setup as MASTER on the secondary drive controller. It should never be setup as Slave.

    Have you applied all the service packs for XP?
    Cendyne/Pioneer 105 & 104 with a Dazzle* Hollywood DV-Bridge.

  3. My TDK Indi-dvd also shows up as a cd drive, but when I put a dvd in it, it reads and writes to it fine. Have you tried putting a dvd in the drive?

    In device manager or in My computer? If its in my computer its not problem at all.

    yes m8 i have tried every combination

    my bios and my computer see it but it wont read or right either cd-r or dvd-r

    NOthing off the top of my head. Other then either trying to uninstall/reinstall it or reinstalling Windows XP. There is no driver because it doesn't need one so thats no the problem...hrm...

  8. go into device manager and make sure win/xp (annoying c++p) has it enabled as a reccording device. It should say something like "enable writing on this device" obviously you should tick yes. Also try the inbuilt help..bleh!

    are you saying theres an option that enables[dis] write as i can't see it anywhere

    Funny I was thinking the same thing. I seem to recall having the same problem when I installed my Sony drive then I installed SmartRipper and it didn't work so then I ran ForceASPI and SmartRipper was working and the drive would read and write.

  14. ffs just try'd force aspi and still no joy

    now i know this drive IS working as it works perfectly in an old p2-400 but i am really pissed off why it dont work on a 2.5 gig job

    any more tips pls

  15. Just guessing but try running "dxdiag" from the start/run menu and run the DX tests.

    shot in the dark. Have you tried in windows device manager to "remove" the drive and drivers then reboot and allow windows to find the hardware over again? Also Is DMA enabled on the drive?

  19. One final thought. Try using a ATA66 or 33 cable (80 pin) in place of the ATA100 or 133 data cable that you most likely are using.
