  1. Hi, I'm what one would consider a novice i guess at making vcds, but I'm getting better blah blah blah. Anywho, I recently purchased some vcds of excellent quality but bad proportions so that they show up awesome on my computer but serverly distorted on my tv. So, I want to remake the vcds so that they show up better in my dvd player. But How do I rip a vcd? There's plenty on ripping dvds, but not much on ripping vcds? Is it the same thing? Any help would be...a big help

thanks anyone who decides to help this poor lost soul...tear (dramatic enough?)

  4. This sounds more like a issue with your DVD set top. If you are trying to play RETAIL DVD's and the proportions come out wrong yet they play OK on your PC, dig out the manual of your DVD player. Every DVD player I've seen has some option to change the aspect ratio. Usually some on screen set up procedure you handle with the remote.

I'm wondering, why Alucard2050(member) says "convert the dat files into mpg files" with VCD Gear Soft
    A N D
Video(other member) says simply rename .dat to .mpg.
My question is: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENT?? Suppose that .dat file doesn't have any problem to fix.
(Sure that the second process is very very very rapid).
    Tks.

  6. wow, thanks everybody. I've already tried changing the aspect ratio on the dvd player but the vcd still comes out wrong, so I'm just gonna try to remake the vcd. Thanks for all the help, you all kick ass!
