  1. I have been experiementing with these great apps.

    2 Questions:

    1. When using DVDXcopy to span a DVD across 2 DVD-R's, is this being done with Menus?, and if so, when you click on something that is on the other Disk, what do you see on the screen?, or is this just taking the main movie and spanning two disks?

DVD2ONE seems to make a fine viewable 1:1 DVD-R for me. Certainly not as good as original going from 7+ gigs to the 4.3, but looks very acceptable after looking at VHS or VCD. Very acceptable.

I noticed when using DVD Shrink 1.03 and choose all files, and put it to target size of 4.38 gigs, option #8 (or most/worst compression) is the only option to get on one DVD. I will have to compare the results of DVD2one, and the only option on DVD Shrink to get it to do a 1:1 fit on DVD-R and see how they compare.

    2. Is DVD2ONE giving the same compression when doing 1:1 as DVD Shrink is doing when I choose all the files? I would assume that it would have to look the same, if both are going from 7+ to 4.3 gigs.

Thanks, time for a new pc...

I understand that both transcoders use the same publicaly available algorithm : a procedure for solving a mathematical problem (as of finding the greatest common divisor) in a finite number of steps that frequently involves repetition of an operation; broadly : a step-by-step procedure for solving a problem or accomplishing some end especially by a computer.

DVDshrink does allow the user not to initially have to decrypt disk to drive however. You can't beat the price of dvdshrink!

I judge them about the same. If you want higher quality try IC7 or learn how to backup the old way using Cinema Craft Encoder.

But then if you want the highest quality, buy the disk!

    Personally I think dvdxcopy stinks.
