what up everyone, i'm new to the forums here, but been around for awhile reading and everything. anyway, i've got a DivX rip of a movie, and i want to make it a DVD, so I came here and followed the DivX to DVD guide. to let u know what i did, i'll tell ya (gonna be a long post ):

1st. i got the DivX (.avi) and opened Virtual Dub and extracted the audio following the guide here on this site 2nd. I opened TMPGEnc (Version 2.59.47.155) and opened the wizard and selected DVD NTSC and followed the steps and started encoding from there.

now i got this *.m2v and a *.wav file. but in the wizard all it implied that i should of renamed it to *.mpg which i did but still came out w/ those 2 file types... what do can i do? is there a way so next time i encode a DivX file that i dont have worry about anything after (so that i can just end up with a *.mpg file)? Thanx for listening, and I hope yall can help me out here!

  2. I just finished encoding video and audio this evening and I have the same question. I want to edit or combine two clips and then author to DVD, but In VideoWave I can't open the m2v file and in Ulead MovieFactory I can open the video and add the audio, but how the heck do I sync them up?

I would much rather, like you, be able to open one file (or in my case two) that is actually a mpg with both audio and video already in sync. Hopefully someone can help us both. Please???

  4. I dont make dvds, but i do (S)VCD stuff. So im goin out on a limb here.
I would think the next program you would use would have a video/audio input to continue w/ur proccess and maybe its the authoring program...im not sure. Maybe you would rename the extention on the video to match what the other program will take...like .mpg as wut the guide said. Cant think of anything else. I can only think that maybe you are missing a step w/you next program or havn't taken that last step. wish i knew how heh then again...i dont have money for dvdplayer and all those dvd costers id be making.

I really appreciate you taking the time to add some info Piccoro. i've tried to rename the file and import it that way, but that didnt work. You said:

I tried that and it still creates the a *.m2v file and a *.wav file. I know that the *.m2v file is strictly just the video and no audio, and the *.wav file is just audio. now i want to join or sync, i'm not sure of the correct term, but i'd like to burn (author) this file, but it needs to be *.mpg (a single file) not two seperate files, (*.m2v and *.wav). Again thanx for adding what you could! I'm totally stumped w/ this situation!

  6. MystaMax,

I did it. I rendered a video and got the same results as you (like I wrote previously). The reason I got those results was that I selected the wrong stream type in TMPGEnc.

ES or "elementary stream" actually makes two seperate files, whereas System video + audio will make one mpg file and it is in sync! I rerendered the same video and Wahoo!!! It worked! Good luck! I hope this helps you!!!
