  1. Hi,
I've been encoding avi's to mpeg with mainconcept encoder and just recently the mpegs i've encoded has been jerky on my stand alone dvd player but it plays ok on my computer. Is it possible that ffdshow caused this? because i just installed ffdshow and ever since the mpegs has been playing jerky on my stand alone dvd player.

Sounds like you answered your own question. Get a bitrate viewer and see if you somehow are using too high a bitrate for your player.

  3. Only time I get that is when I set the field order wrong during encoding. Don't know if that aplies to you.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

  6. Just another suggestion, but had you changed CDR/RW media at all?

  7. Yep tryed 2 different disks and I'm only burning at 4X so it not speed either. And I only put 517MB on the disk, so I'm not trying to squezze to much on the disk.
I've been looking at some of the bitrate tools, but I haven't figured out, if it is possible to reduce the bitrate of an existing mpg file.

  8. it can't be the bitrate because i've encoded half of the movie and it plays fine but the other half is jerky on my stand alone player and i put them in the same settings and that means the same field order and the same bitrate.

  9. I agree with Marco33. I believe you need to check (and change) your field order.

open the files in bitrate viewer, they will say either "fieldtop first" yes or no. if they are different values, that's your problem.
