  1. I am having a problem merging the 5 VOB files for a movie into one VOB file, so I can play it back in Windows Media Player. The fifth one generates a "I/O Error 112" when it tries to merge it. I can use WinDVD player's playlist to play each of the 5 VOB's, but it "skips" between VOB's during playback, which is why I want to merge them. Any tips?

  2. Are you using Win95/98/ME? If so, you would most likely be using FAT32 which has an upper limit of 4GB for filesizes. 5 VOB files (each one being 1 GB) would be too large, thus your problem.

Why do you want to keep such large files around to play video? Perhaps you should convert your VOBs into VCD or SVCD. Or else, if you have the original DVD around, just play your video off that.

  3. If you just plan to watch your RIP on your PC, then maybe making a DivX file would be a good idea (would take up MUCH less space).

  4. I merge all the VOB files so I can then play it to record on a VHS tape. Yeah, I use FAT32, so that's the problem...I have Win2K, but use FAT32...does NTFS support 4GB+ files? I should be using it, I think. Thanks

    Okay, it makes sense then.

And yes, NTFS does support file sizes larger than 4GB.
