  1. Hi

    Simple question.

With the Instant copy 7 registry hack, you can unselect some extra and keep movie + menu or movie + menu + few extra.

Question is, some say IC7 will corupt the IFO when you do this and will be unplayable on Standalone DVD player.

What is the truth ? Is removing Extra with IC7 will corupt the IFO or not ?

It is the truth, InstantCopy does not update the navigation therefore many DVD players will not player the disc, my Sony NS700V will not play them for a start.

I have written a guide for using InstantCopy to do a movie only backup, it's 3 simple steps.

    1. Rip
    2. Strip with DVDToolbox (10 mins)
    3. Open stripped movie in InstantCopy.

This method adds 10 mins to the process, but the output movie will play fine. InstantCopy has a quality advantage over similar programs because it transcodes the video rather than compressing the existing data.

The guide is on my site (web server down at the moment) http://encodinginfo.org.uk

Hey ZippyUK, let us know when you site is back up as I would really like to see your guide. I think IC7 gives great quality, but I would like to only use it for the main movie without using the reg hack...

    Thanks.
    Use what works for you...
