  1. Hey all,

So, low and behold I got the same problem as so many other people here and have learned a lot. My audio is out of sync. Surprise, surprise. Tried Goldwave/soundforge time stretch - no dice - made it worse -

What I want to try is
    1) Setting the audio bitrate to a specific rate - but the original source file is in VBR. And I need to convert it to CBR. Does anyone know a user-friendly VBR to CBR audio bitrate converter?
    2) I wish to correct any bad frames in the original source file that could be causing the desync - but VDub's scan video for errors options gets hung up on the first bad frame and doesn't continue - I get no summary of the all the bad frames and plus, I have no idea how to fix them or remove them. Is there a program that will do this? Scan the whole thing, summarize the errors and then give an option to fix or remove the bad frames?
This audio sync thing is pissin' me off.
    Thanks

    Ice

    answer for 1:

Save the wav out by virtualdub, then load the wav, save the avi with a cbr mp3 ( video direct stream)
Anyone tired of his old DVD burner? Why put it into the trash? Contact me! :))))

  3. Could you be more specific please? I have already extracted the uncompressed wav from the original source file with Virtual Dub. Now I need to load that wav back into VDub?? I can only load a video file...not just a wav..if you could just elaborate that would be appreciated. Thanks

under audio there is an option: wav audio. if you click it you can import an external audio for the avi loaded in vdub. Now if you save the avi ( save as avi) you'll have an avi ( audio video inter.....) wioth a wav sound .
Furthermore if you adjust the compression of the audio to cbr mp3 and then save, then you'll have a decent filesize as well

  5. Aaahhh I see! said the blind man to the deaf dog...

Thanks, I'll give that a go...according to your experience would that be sufficient to correct any audio desync caused by differences in bitrates?

I cant really imagine audio video desynchronization caused by different bitrates.. bitrates only affect the quality. What you are talkin about is vbr contra cbr. Older vdubs promt this at the beginning " improper vbr..... it will produce 79978 ms of skew...."
That is solved by this method . afterall vdub suggests to do this

  7. When proceeding with the above instructions you provided, what do the settings have to be under the video drop down menu in Vdub..full processing? direct stream copy? What settings do I use for the video since I am creating another AVI...

The VBR and the CBR is what I meant....so, by doing the method you suggested, that will clear up the audio desync problems?

Thanks for your insight, I appreciate it.

After loading in the wav audio, set video to direct stream copy, set audio to full processing mode and select an audio compression type.

  9. Which compression type should I use for the audio? And can I set the specific audio CBR?

    Thanks again.

  12. Just one more thing,

Once I have saved an avi with CBR audio as per above instructions. How do I resample to 41 Khz with 8-bit stereo?
