  1. Hi,

Like the most of you out here I want to put my vcd's and Svcd's that I dl from the net on dvd. I dl series like Charmed and John doe and they are pretty good quality. They are as good as I get svcd with my dvdmaster and those files are a lot bigger. So I'm happy with the vcd quality I dl.
I'm not that happy with the storage so I want to put them on dvd+R.
Most vcd are now a days 48Khz. Can I use only dvd meastro or dvd junior to make a readable dvd for my poineer standalone players ?
    If not Why not

I have red a lot of guides and they only mention the sound conversion because vcd is 44Khz and DVD 48KHz. At this moment I'm running a test with dvd moviefactory 2 but this is pretty slow even with a P4 2.53. I don't know what it is converting because all the files are 48Khz is it the framesize?
If I have no synch probs I will be happy even if it takes some time but I read in this forum a lot of bad things about this proggie.

Why does it take so long to finish the files if there is no enconding involved.
Is it because vcd is a lot smaller then 720x576 PAL DVD and this is converted?
I'm new with this DVD authoring but am excited about the possibility to store much more on a dvd then a cd. I was already thrilled with CCE that I could put one very good looking movie on two svcd CD'S but this is opening a lot more possiblities

For all you out there that write those how to guides two thumbs up really appreciate the effort

    CYA,

    Ray

  2. Hi,

I have finsihed my test with Ulead DVD moviefactory 2.
There is no synch prob for so far I have seen but it looks awfull.
There is a lot of flickering especialy if I there is some text with John doe you see this msg about digital broadcast or something and then the flickering or screenshaking is realy bad. Anybody know what is causing this? They are NTSC files and I have used the ntsc settings.

    Thanks,

    Ray

  3. Go to http://www.svcd2dvdmpg.com/ and you will find a neat little program that will automate the process of converting SVCD/VCD for DVD.

I tried it once and the output looked pretty good. It played fine with my software player on the computer, but my DVD player (pioneer 343) didn't like the non-standard resolution (SVCD in my case) and boxed it to the side. Still played it though. At any rate you might have some luck with this.
