    Has anyone flashed the firmware of the Sony DRU 500 to version 2.0e (flashed on a PC then use drive on a Mac)?

    I posted a problem I've been having w/ some kind of freaky 2 gig limit when I try to burn data DVDs but nobody has posted a reply. Tried everything I can think of, so I'm wondering if flashing it on a PC will help/fix anything.

    Sounds dangerous to me. You don't want to flash it and not have the rom work correctly. Expecially if the only way to flash the original rom back is on a PC and it won't work on a mac afterwords.

    Flashing it on the PC will work fine. I've flashed several 500 drives several times and they work fine on the Mac after the flash. It is always best to update firmware. Just follow the instructions and you won't have a problem. Sony has fixed a lot of bugs in the newer versions as well as adding support for more media.
