  1. TmpGenc works (more or less) but freezes up when finishing or going to second title. Means Batch mode is useless. &

So what I'm looking for is software that can convert to VCD, 1/2 D1 and full DVD formats in batch mode that will accept this video format.

CCE Basic trial will not accept it because of the resolution.

    TIA

When using CCE you should resize to your desired resolution through your frameserver. Either use virtual dub or Avisynth.

I still prefer TMPGenc for VCDs over CCE though. First off, are you positive that TMPGenc is actually locked up? It commonly will appear to freeze, even for a min. or so but this is normal. If it indeed is locking up, then try only processing the video alone. TMPGenc does not handle compressed audio very well, especially if it is reading it from a the same file that contains the video. Encode the audio streams separately and then multiplex them with their respective video stream.

  3. Yes it is frozen, takes approx 1.5 hours for 90 minute video...

Start at 1am & at 9am it will be at 100% but never finished, and didn't go on to second file conversion...

It must be something in these files, Maybe Codec? as it works fine with other files in batch mode.

Source is Mpeg... video and audio streams... I had less success before I combined them with tmpgenc..

Of course MF2 will take that oddball mpg and create a dvd, but means a dvd per mpg, and can't batch convert em that way.

I guess more playing around with the source, try RAW or TS format output options.

I could always do 1 a day, But I'll never get done that way. Sort of like shoveling sand against the ocean.

I'll have to go from the source in all the avail formats and try converting. I remember a 1/2 hour video I can use to test that way.

    Thanks

  4. Well I found a cure, sort of, but it is very slow...

EO Video will convert these to SVCD or VCD. But very slow. Maybe because of size of file... 1.5+ GB for 90 minute video. It took 2.5 hours for a 31 minute clip.

May be bad frames as it reported "Unexpected end of video" etc. But continued and the end result played fine.

What would be the best s/w to search for and fix bad frames in a VBR Mpeg2 file in terms of speed and accuracy?

I noticed that when I was mux'ing the audio & video streams into a mpeg file that TmpGenc reported it as mpeg2 VBR, guess I should have figured it was that type of file.

Thanks for any and all help.
