  1. I just made a backup of dvd2 of the evening with kevin smith movie. Happy as i am the second dvd was less then 4.7 gigs so i ripped it used ifoedit to fix (i believe) the dvd i just put on my hd. I tried burning without fixing it but my dvd player gave a error about dirty disc ( i used +rw don't worry . So I did the fix and i burned onto a dvd and played it on my computer cause i didn't have access to the tv at the time. It ran ok then when the menu's came up i couldn't do anything (oh yeah i was running powerdvd) so i thought i just made a nice coaster but then i thought well i can just go straight to the chapter with my remote on my standalone dvd player but i felt what a waste i wanted menu's and extra's. So I finally get access to the tv pop in my first working dvd i ever burnt and what do you know the menu's work. I pressed play movie and then the tv went grey so i went back to menu started from chapter selection and everything was fine.

I was wondering what might be the problem and if their is something i can do to make sure it dosn't happen again?

  2. when you say you used ifoedit to "fix" it..are you saying to strip the DVD? If you did use IFOEdit to strip then you need to "GET VTS SECTORS" in IFOEdit for the DVD to play on your standalone player.

  3. Sorry i knew i should of been more specific on that. I ment i stripped with dvd decrypter into file mode stripped the whole dvd and then used ifoedit to "get vts sectors" and nero finally saw it as a compatable dvd so it burned and it ran but not on my software dvd player. It works on standalone though almost perfectly.

  4. humm, that's odd, I was thinking it would be the other way around...that it would play well on your ROM but NOT standalone. If you are just ripping a movie and then using IFOEdit to "GET VTS" sectors, I think you are screwing something up.

Someone with more knowledge may be able to elaborate on this, but you don't need to "GET VTS" SECTORS if you aren't STRIPPING new ifo/files with IFOEdit. Your method sounds like it is a DVD-5 you were using since you said it was less then 4.7 GB's and therefore, you should NOT be using IFOEdit to as you say "fix" the files.

You should of SIMPLY alleviated the entire IFOEdit process and simply ripped the movie with DVD Decryptor as you did, and then just burn the movie. Very simple process and do NOT use IFOEdit for DVD-5's as you can probably only screw things up. Try to just rip the movie and burn it as I am saying and then come back and let us know if it works on both your ROM and standalone...i''m sure it will.

  5. I did that actually but nero said it was not a formated right to dvd which of course to me was weird but i burned anyway on a +rw disc and tried it on my stand alone and it didn't work said dirty disc. So i did the "get vts" and next thing you know it works on my dvd player (although i get a green screen if i push the "play movie" link on the menu then the dvd player turns off then i turn it on next thing you know the movie starts from the beginning.) but on my computer the software emulation just dosn't allow me to use the menu buttons.

  6. as I said, you shouldn't have to "GET VTS" sectors with a DVD-5. Nero sucks..get another burning program. Nero is probably telling you that because you are using a +RW, just do what I told you on a regular
DVD-R or DVD+R. Nero probably wants you to format the disk prior to burning on it...forget all that and just use a DVD-R or DVD+R by ripping and burning. Very simple

  7. Well the +rw was already blank because it was the first time i used it but nero might be the problem i guess but i did take a dvd that i converted with dvd2one and put it on that +rw and it worked perfectly on my dvd player and standalone (well considering their is no menu's its pretty easy to work)
