  1. I've been copying my old anime fansubs to vcd and for some reason, the tape I'm trying to copy to the computer is dropping half the frames I though something might be wrong with the computer so I tried another tape but the problem didn't repeat. The problem is with the tape. I recorded over the tape which used to be a movie tape and was wondering if maybe the Macrovision might have something to do with the dropped frames. Don't know that it had Macrovision but that's the only thing I can think of. I tried capturing at different frame rates but it didn't help. Can anyone advise me? Thanks.

    hi perdomot,

You might wanna let us know what the source is, pre-recorded by you, or
    friends or whatever.

I don't think it's the macrovision. But, it could be your VCR and/or
your TAPE condition ie, TAPE is old or warn out etc.
If these tape(s) were recorded on a previous VCR and now you are using
an new'er VCR, chances are, that your current VCR is not lining up the
tape's tracking as from the original recording from the privous VCR.

The only thing you can try and do is either get a low cost TBC
(time base correcter) or an hardware DV device ie, the ADVC-100, or an
DC10+ (MJPEG - analog capture card) for your capturing.

  3. Hi Vhelp.
The tape I'm trying to copy from used to have a movie on it because its got one of those stickers that rental places put on. The tape is in great condition and the video looks perfect so there's not problem there. I'll check the tracking later on but I don't think that's the problem because the image is clear during capture. Thanks.

I had similar problem with my old avermedia card : it was dropping about 30% frames when I was capturing old VHS.
I bought Winfast TV2000 Deluxe for $55 and the problem is gone!
So I suggest to borrow (from friend or shop ) a different capture card and try to capture.
