  1. I know this info is probably here somewhere but I want to be absolutely clear.

The frame size for standard ntsc is 352 x 240 as I understand it, My question is, Is this the only frame size you can use to be able to play on standalone dvd player on your tv or does it depend on the dvd player?

  2. For VCD: Anything outside 352x240 for NTSC video would be out of spec and is not guaranteed to play on anything. You can always try - that is callex XVCD if it is out of spec but modtly VCD (X for extended).

Now some VCD/DVD players play raw MPEGs - just burn a MPEG movie as data and it reads it like the MP3 players by displaying filenames & you can pick. BUT those players are rare (see the players list at left).
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'
