  1. I have created 3 seperate movies with Studio 8. I then created the DVD Image files for each movie. I want to know how to copy all three on to one DVD and have a menu folks can click on to access a certain movie. I THINK that would be a chapter right?

Pinnacle explains how to do it if I create one massive DVD with all three distinct videos but I don't want to do that.

Thank you so very much for your help!

  2. Since several have viewed this post but were unable to help, I'm assuming it's a good question. So far I have found out that I have to download a free version of NeroVision (Free if you are a lic owner of 5.5). Then I must purchase the mpeg-2/dvd encoder plugin (29.00). This should even allow me to use mpgs for DVD as well. I'll post more if there is more involved.

The MPG plugin is for re-encoding a video to be MPEG2 complient. It SUCKS. TMPG or CCE is much better at actually encoding. Any re-encoding Nero does sucks pretty bad (CBR, resize and no filtering).

  4. You don't create 3 separate dvd image files and then try to combine them after the fact - you have to author your dvd image with all 3 movies already on it.

I'm not familiar with Studio 8 DVD capabilities, but typically you use some authoring program to create a menu to choose your movies, and put all 3 movies on it.

Personally, I use Studio 7 to edit my DV, then encode it with TMPGEnc or CCE, create a menu with Photoshop, and author it with DVDMaestro.

At any rate, the bottom line is that you have to author your complete DVD at one go with one of the authoring programs out there.

You can't record 3 movies in 1 DVD because all have the same file names (VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_01_1.VOB...) so you, somehow, need to create movies with diff names (VTS_01_1.VOB... VTS_02_1.VOB... VTS_03_1.VOB). So you need to find a software that will do this.

I guess Pinnacle will create a movie with the 3 parts together to VTS_01_X.VOB files without creating VTS_02 or VTS_03 and this is what you want to avoid for some reason.

I don't know any current low cost software that can do that, I think all will put together the 3 movies into 1 and create chapter points.

  6. You need to encode these movies to mpg seperately then you can use ULMovie Factory to make the chapters and author to video ts file or you can use the 3 seperate mpg files in Spruceup or the likes and make your menus and chapters and auther to video ts and burn w/Nero. .......... harrymj3

  7. Wow! I post to myself and you all come out of the woodwork !

I knew I could string them along in Studio 8 but I didn't want to deal with the rendering time since they have already been created as DVD's to begin with.

What I'm trying to do is create a DVD with different movies from various sources that I've created here and there. I knew I could drag and drop the VCD .mpgs and create links with Nero but was hoping I could do the same with DVDs.

I'm going to try Nero's suggestion and if not I'll have to string them along and deal with the rendering and file recreation in Studio!

    Thanks for you advice

You may not have to re-encode with Studio 8.
