  1. I looked on the convert page and it doesn't work, the info is wrong how to use tmpgenc to make from avi or mpeg to dvd. i tried it once and only got one file that has nothing to do with dvd that i know of.

So my question is could someone please write up a step by step totally easy to understand tutorial one that works how to convert from ASF, AVI and mpeg to dvd so i can put these files on dvd to play on my set top dvd player?

Currently I have a lot of mpeg/avi and 2 asf files i wanna put on a dvd to play on my set top dvd player, but no clue how to do this and would greatly appreciate any help.

  2. Well, let me first say that hundreds if not thousands of people have used this site as a reference for converting to dvd compliant mpeg2 files. My guess is that you haven't taken the time to read the guides thoroughly.

I don't know what you mean by, "the dvd I know of". But if you mean that TmpgEnc makes 1 dvd compliant mpeg2 file which is unlike a VIDEO_TS, AUDIO_TS folder containing vobs, .bup, etc., you are correct. You are converting, not authoring. Any decent authoring program can handle the dvd compliant mpeg2 created by TmpgEnc.

Maybe if you explain your process, give details on the file you created, and tell us why the resulting file is unacceptable for your needs, you'll get some help.

Finally, read the guides on how to convert from avi to dvd-r. The quick answer is this:

    1. Convert the avi or asf to dvd compliant mpeg2 using Tmpgenc
    2. Take resulting mpeg2 file and use an authoring program to either author and burn the dvd internally, or use it to create a Title Set.
    3. If you create a Title Set, you will have 2 folders, AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS, you can then burn a dvd-r, +r, with Nero or any other burning rom.
