Hi all,
I'm interested in the Windvd Recorder but I'm not sure what hordware to get. I'm completely new to this.
What I want to do is:
I want to capture from my TV signal/ VHS video into my hard drive, now what hardware do I need get to link between my TV areal/VHS video player to my PC?
is it TV tuner card? or Video Capture card? or...
If it is TV Tuner which TV tuner should I get? any recomended brand? I can't effort a very expensive Tv tuner. so.. if you have got any suggestion it would be great so I won't get the wrong TV tuner.
Thanks in advance!
regards,
Ardani

There are multiple types some with hardware encoders built-in for mpeg capture but what you probably want is a Tv Tuner card with which you can capture video using a software capture program.
I personally like the Avermedia TV Tuner card based on the bt878 chipset.
I suspect that any generic brand based on the bt848/bt878 chipset will do fine and be the most compatible and inexpensive.
Before you invest in Intervideo's DVDRecorder you may want to do some homework.
The card will also work with free software listed on this site in the tools section. These will allow you to capture to compressed avi.
If you specifically want to capture to Mpeg1 or Mpeg2, Intervideo also have a software called windvr which to me is more flexible in setting video options. There is also a program by Cyberlink called PowerVCR II which caps to mpeg1 and mpeg2.There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.
