Hi all,
I've tried searching the best CCE sp setting for VCD in this forum, but no success. Maybe I've been using the wrong keyword. By the way, here is my problem.
I've been using TMPGENC succesfully for my VCD and the quality is quite good. Just yesterday, I've able to installed CCE and tried encoding using it as many people says that the quality is as good or even better than TMPGEnc and the speed is much faster. Yes, the speed is really amazing compare to TMPGenc, however, the picture quality is really bad compare to TMPGEnc. Here is the details of the source.
- capturing from Sony TRV340E (PAL) through firewire.
- Edit using MediaStudio 7 (render to DV AVI PAL)
- encode using either TMPGENC or CCE
I believed I did not have a correct setting for my CCE. Hope someone can help. Thanks in advanced.

From what I have read around these parts is that CCE is not as good as Tmpgenc in terms of VCd but in terms of SVCD CCe is the way to go...
I have not done my own test I do know (and this is a personaly prefernce) I no longer make VCD (which I used to make alot of) CVD is a forgotten format that more people should be looking at using the results are fantastic for size vs quality vs time
Please note I do not work for or speak for any company that is trying to bring more attention to this format......lol
How long could we maintain? I wondered. How long until one of us starts raving and jabbering at this boy? What will he think then?

don't use cce to make vcd's....it will not do any better job than tmpgenc..and tmpgenc is made to do vcd's whereas cce is really made for mpeg2 encodiing(svcd)

I havent tried CCE for VCD's but I had great results making VCD's with TMPGE.
Goodluck,
VCThis is so much fun! -
Thanks for the info guys... This mean that I have to keep my CCE in a box until I buy a SVCD/DVD player...

CCE is overal better for higher Resolutions and bitrates.
TMPGenc is better for lower Resolutions and bitrates.
In other words: For VCD is TMPGenc all the way. For DVD is better to use CCE.
For CVD and SVCD, it is more of a personal taste. It is moskito noise (CCE) vs Block Noise (TMPGenc).
Moskito noise ain't noticable (from what I read) on NTSC TVs, but it is really bad for progressive HDTVs. With PAL, it's like a SVHS LP tape in my eyes. The bigger screen size the bigger the problem.
Block noise looks bad on NTSC TV, but looks somehow better than moskito noise on a progressive HDTV. With PAL, it looks bad only when it turns really blocky.
There is a significant difference also: If you rise the bitrate, from a point and beyond the blocks gonna disapear. The moskito noise no... IMHO always...
