  4. Any of the DVD Players based on CineMaster Ravisent DVD Player. Actually you really only need the codecs it installs. Either will work and allow you to use the preview functions in Maestro.
BTW those sites I put as a side note, just some good guides on authoring with Maestro

  6. The ATI software DVD player will work. It's based on the Cinemaster dll's. Maestro uses the dll's for the ATI software player.

The software came bundled with several different ATI cards that I own. I don't know about an independent purchase. I don't think they offer the product seperate from a card.

  10. Guys, when I found this thread I thought my prayers had been answered. I found Cinemaster 2000 DVD player and installed it.

DVDs play fine in the player, and the codec is even selected in Maestro itself.

However, when I try and play any video I get an error:

    Message -2147303414 Not Found (0x8002c00a)

Any idea why this might be? Do I need to mess with any settings in DVD Genie? Seems odd that the player works and that it's listed in Maestro yet I can't get a preview.

    Any suggestions most welcome!

BTW the Cinemaster decoding engine is listed as version: 2.0.37.6379 (by DVD Genie).

Maestro is one of those things you need to buy to figure out. It's hard to install from illegal versions, and guides for it suck compared to the novel you get when you purchase the program. Too cheap? Then use something else. DVDIt! PE and Spruce are excellent. Only thing DVDIt! PE doesn't have is motion menus. Most other functions work great for most people.

  12. Jeez many thanks for the reply. Does everyone on this board jump to conclusions?

DVD Maestro has been working fine for me for months - I'm quite accomplished with it but till now have got by w/o a real-time preview. I'm reluctant to buy a hardware board just for this job and wondered if I could use a software decoder.

I noted that the Cinemaster engine worked but as it happens I'm having issues. I simply wondered if anyone had encountered similar issues or at the least could tell me their Cinemaster engine version so I could try another one.

And just for reference, having run a successful DVD web site many years ago I have numerous versions of the Cinemaster player as well as Maestro donated to me by sponsors. I don't appreciate the implication that i use warez.

  13. Novel, I'd say more like dictionary. Its 688 pages. 688!!!! And it is a bit confusing.

  14. For what it's worth I've got it working now. I'd obviosly messed with some settings in DVD Genie. I restored them back to defaults and it works fine in Maestro now.

I found the Maestro manual so useful it keeps up the back leg of my printer stand I also don't think it's fair to tell someone to buy it to get the full install and the manual (and in some cases the MPEG card) when it's no longer sold I got my copy when I bought a computer and components from a guy who was getting rid of all his video editing stuff so I certainly didn't pay sticker price for the app. Now that it is no longer made why not help out with those that have "other" copies of it. You never know when one of them may turn around to help one of us. Especially since I've figured out more with that program just messing around with it than from when I tried to learn via that tome that went with it. What would be nice is for some 3rd party publisher to release a guide to it (like there are so many for Adobe apps, HTML editors, etc) that's easier to follow, but now since it's not in production anymore the chances of that are pretty diminished.

Just curious if anyone here thinks Maestro will work with any other hardware encoders like the Canopus Storm?

  16. Jim,
I wouldn't sweat it everyone Thinks if you have a question about Maestro, or don't have the manual or decoder that your a software theif. Just take'em with a grain of salt. Besides just cause it ain't sold don't mean you can't leagally obtain it. I got mine off my Uncle when he died, and I got his PC and software, but no manual I had to download it in pdf format, thing is 18 megs and 688 pages long. But people must assume. When someone assumes you got it via piracy tell-em "Never ASSUME, it makes both an ASS- out of U- and ME" haha. Glad to here you got the decoder working right.

Rally- Sorry I don't know if any other card works, but I'd swear either at Spruces Maestro forum (Still up and running), here, or at Afterdawn.com's forum I saw some posts and some very experienced Maestroi users where discussing cards that worked.

BTW- Found a site with great tutorial even one on menus and sub masks with photoshop check them out.

I hope these sites help you, or someone, they helped me get my feet off the ground, especially the Photoshop page, incedently for anyone who dosen't know you can use Paintshop Pro7 instead of Photoshop its alot cheaper, does layers and lets you save layers as .psd photoshop files.

    I hope this helps,
