  1. I got an Asus 6800 deluxe geforce 256 card that has a Svideo in so I m planning to try to test it out. I run a P3 933 with windows XP sp1. My mobo is a P3BF with about 512 MB or ram.

This is my first capture project, and it's for fun and learning. For this first project, I would like to capture from a vcr tape to my pc, and also capture from a digital camcorder to my pc.

Yy question is should I use the tools here at this site, or should I use the drivers and utilities provided by asus? What would give me the best results??? My other question is how do I capture the audio? I mean there's only the video in so how do you capture the audio? Please help!

    Hello Vitamine

I had a P3BF a while ago , and sadly it did not have ATA66 or better support. You will have endless frustration attempting 'analog' captures with an ATA33 drive (unless of course you get a PCI R.A.I.D contoller card).
Your best choice is to record onto your digital camcorder the 'transfer' the video using its' firewire connection ( unless you have one ,you will need to buy a firewire card ~$30 )

As nice as the video card is, i don't think you will be satisfied with the captured *.avi files due to the harddrive limitations.
Try the ASUS capture program (from memory ...as i have tested a V7700 .. ) there are a few "quality" selections in the ASUS recorder that will allow you to capture with no frame loss. Do not expect to capture full screen with your present computer.
Audio (analog) can be captured through your sound card.

Try Virtual Dub s capture feature. Also try its' utility that will benchmark your drives and tell you right away if you will expect frame drops.
