1st, let me tell you that I have been obsessed with figuring out this problem, and have read sooooo much to try to fix it.

After installing Divx AC3 codec, NONE of my media players would play a DVD, including WINDVD. This is the error info:
    AppName: windvd.ex AppVer: 3.1.53.5 ModName: iviaudio.ax
And the file it said is associated with this error:
    C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER5F.tmp.dir00\ap pcompat.txt

As suggested by other members here, I used Gspot to find and delete the iviaudio.ax file causing the problem. That did not fix it. I uninstalled and reinstalled WinDVD. Still didn't work. I even did a complete destructive recovery, and lost everything to fix this!

I have logged everything down as I go while d/l ing all of my authoring programs. After d/l ing the Divx AC3 codec, it has all started again!
I was told (and have read) that WINDVD has it's own AC3 encoder, but it doesn't work for making a copy of these new DVD's with AC3. So, I know that I need another AC3 codec. Obviously, it is NOT the Divx AC3 codec!

Since I have done everything I told you, can someone please help me figure this out w/o having to destruct my computer again! There has got to be an answer! I know already that deleting that iviaudio.ax and reinstalling WinDVD does not work! Please help me fix this and find the right AC3 codec so this won't happen again! I really hate that I lost everything once, and do not want to have to start my computer from scratch again! Where is my Master Pinoy and Master Sefy when I need them!!!
    Thank you for any help,
    Tracey

  2. Tracey-San,

All you need to do is but ask, and they will show up
To properly play all those types of AVI coded files, you must have all the
appropriate codecs, now, if you have NIMO, get rid of it, it's nothing more
then a trouble make from what i've seen.

Get and Install ONLY the following codecs in the same order I write them

    Kristal Studio Codec http://www.fetishwerkz.com/dnksworld/HTML_Hold/Codec_HTML.htm
    DivX 5.0.3 Video Bundle http://www.divx.com
    XviD Video Codec http://nic.dnsalias.com/

When you are done, all types of AVI's should play on any player you want.
