Can't "convert" two DVD-5s into a single DVD-5 (recordable) without loosing something, either quality or content. Furthermore, the two disks are separate entities separately authored. Therefore, you can't just use a program and merge the two disks.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know. -
In theory -- it is possible to put 2 DVD5s into 1 DVD-R -- my guess would be using IFOEdit to make or rebuild the structure of the DVDs...
Anyways... Haven't seen anyone try this... Nor I will try it myself... Nor I have any idea on how to start... but that's the best answer you'll get from anyone...

I dont have problem with create 2 DVD with lower bitrate, but I can this 2 DVD merge to one DVD, preserve both original menus and create new first menu for select of one from this both original menu.
My problem is only how I create first menu for select of one from both original menu. -
This will get you on the right track.
I just found this page a day ago and have posted it 4 times to different posts. It's what the people want.

I have to agree with SASI, you will lose a lot of quality. I have a backup of Casino (3 Hours long) it's on the border of VHS quality.Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side. -
Just to point out that some times you NEED to join two DVD-5 to a single DVDR. When the original post was answered, I couldn't understand why on earth one might need to do it.
Until today.
I was given a DVD version of Mary Poppins. I was in for a big surprise when I discovered it's a dual side disk. They don't come often. And each side was single layer. That was really strange. And each side approximatelly 3.9 Gb. That was silly.
In short, the movie has no extras whatsoever except for 7-8 separate soundtracks translated to different languages. And each side holds half the film. Why on earth the producer did this I cannot understand. Well, this is a fine example of 2 x DVD-5 to merge into a single DVDR.
BTW, I must say I was impressed by the translation of the songs in several languages, including German, Swedish, Norwegian, Spanish, etc. It's a must see (and listen) - and mergeThe more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know. -
They used a two sided disc cause there was so much information and when the disc was manufactured Dual layer was not available.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.
