  1. I have ATI all in wonder card. Running w2k prof. MMC 7 works fine.
I was trying to capture from s-video or composite.

I tried with Ulead movie factory and windvd recorder

If i choose TV then it captures video and audio.
If I choose S-video or composite, audio is not coming.

The funny is on "select video source" window before clicking OK i am able to hear audio in my speaker. Once I sleected and clicked ok, audio stops.

Line-in is selected for audio source.

For workaround i connected audo directly to line-in instead of connecting to ATI card then loob back to line-in.

Does any one faced this kind of problem.

Actually i do not want to use ATI's MMC

    I like WinDVD Recorder

WinDVD recorder is really a cool application captures in dvd compilant mpeg in real time. It has profiles like HQ-DVD, DVD, 1/2 DVD, 1/4 DVD
Captured and burned using Ulead DVD movie factory.
I was surprised the DVD quality. It was amazing.

I don't have an ATI card, but I do have a WinTV card and I believe the ATI cards are like the WinTV cards in that they do not have built-in sound capturing, the sound capturing is done by your sound card. Your "workaround" is what you are supposed to do when capturing S-Video and Composite with these type cards.

S-Video and Composite are NOT like a TV signal: No Audio. For S-Video and Composite you need to use a patch cable from your video device to the Line-IN of your sound card. Select your sound card as the audio capture device. Alternately, some capture cards have audio-in jacks.

Now you've probably done that correctly, so why doesn't it work? Somewhere in your capture coard configuration it's forcing the issue with your capture sources. You HAVE to force the issue with your audio capture device in the capture card configuration. Some software (IUVCR), will let you change audio/video sources on the fly.

  4. thanks for reply.

If i use MMC and switch the source i am able to hear sound in speaker.
    (TV/S-Video/Composite) all works perfectly.

But If I use othe than MMC then only i had a problem in audio(svideo/composite)

But my qustion is when setting up "Source for capturing" in any capturing applications, i am able to hear audio while selecting TV or S-video or Composite, when I click OK in the setup why the audio stops?

    Audio is OK for TV

What is happening is during capture, the application is muting your line in. It unmutes it for preview. If you open up your speaker icon on the bottom right of your toolbar, select recording, then un-mute your line-in and see if this helps.

  6. I'll second what was previously stated!

I've used ATI All-In-Wonder cards for years and for me, they all have the annoying habit of muting the Line-In audio when you go to record.

It has to be the drivers since they dod it with other applications too.

So if I capture with it, I have to start the capture app, Bring up the audio mixer (double click the little speaker on the bottom of the screen) click Options, then properties, Then recording and re-enable the line-in.

On Mine I could always hear the sound but it wasn't recording the sound.

However I solved that problem. I threw money at it. I Bought the Canopus ADVC-100. Problem solved.

    Good Luck.
