  1. Hey, i've got an avi file of my movie, and I need to convert it to PAL svcd format im using TMPGEnc and im ripping the audio with Virtual Dub.

The first cd's audio is fine, but the second cd the audio is off by quite a lot.

What can I do to fix this? Is there any way I can split the audio file, so it can be at the same time?

    Thanks for any help.

You can split wavs with many tools - one of the simpler (in terms of ease of use) is WavWorks but "any" wav editor can do the trick, like GoldWave, CoolEdit SoundForge...
As you don't include any info on how you split the movie to 2 CD's, there's no way to understand where it goes wrong. Try to explain your steps from 1 AVI file to two SVCD in as great detail as possible!

  3. Okay, this is what im doing.

Im taking my AVI File and ripping the audio with Virtual Dub, I then use TMPGEnc to convert to svcd format. To split the avi into two mpegs, im using the source range to split from the beginning to 45 minutes so I can get it to fit at ~99.9% of disc.

The first CD works perfectly fine, then when im converting the second file using the source code at 45 minutes to the end of the movie. The audio is off by around 2 minutes or so.

  4. I found the error but I dont know how to fix it.

The audio file has different times than the video file does, the video file says one thing is happening at 00:46.30 while the audio file is doing it at 00:45.00

What Can I do to fix this?

    What says so?

Could it be that you encode at a different frame rate than the original AVI? (That the first mpeg is OK tells me you aren't but...)

Try frame serving from VirtualDub in 2 passes instead of using TMPGEncs source range.

  6. Okay, I will try that.

im playing the audio file in winamp right now, and im matching the sound on the time of the .wav to when the sound happens in the video on TMPGEnc, its roughly a one minute off-set.

So, the audio is before the video, right? If all else fails, try stretching the audio to match the video (length in time). WavWorks is good and fast at this.

  8. Now heres another odd thing I just found out.

The audio length matches the video length exactly.

    Hi there,
I'm having the exact same problem. Audio is fine, the length of it match the one of the movie. The problem is that when you tell virtualdub to start frameserving from some Frame on (different from the beginning of the movie), audio get out of sync.

    We need serious help.

  10. Im seeing if this works, Its worth a try.

I listened to the audio using winamp, and found a sound that I could distinguish at around half way where I split the CD into 2 and then I went to where the sound was soposed to be in the video.

For me the sound was at 45m 46s and on the video it happened at 46m 49s.

Its a 1m 3s difference, I converted that to miliseconds and then in TMPGEnc there is a audio gap correct and I put in -63000ms hopefully this works, if it does I will tell ya.

  11. That works!

You just need to find out how much the Audio is offset.
