I updated my iMovie to 3.0.2 (after making a backup of 2.?) and it tells me it requires Quicktime 6.1.
Ever since OS X.2.3, my software updater hasn't been working (it shows necessary updates but when I click update, it says it can't do the udpate) and QT 6.1 is in that list that won't work.
So normally, I just go to apple.com and find and download the update myself.
BUT I can't find 6.1...on the QT page all I see is 6.0.2v2 or something like that. Any ideas?
Thanks,
jbcandkc

i had the some problem tryng to find 6.1. have you tried unchecking all updates except the quicktime one and then clicking on update ( up top on the menubar) then on "download checked items to desktop"?
just a thought.

Thanks, but the download checked items isn't working either. I think it might be time to reload OSX because of the software update problem and every time I put it to sleep instead of shutting down it gives me that screen that I must restart when I wake it up. (is that a KP?)
Has anyone found the download for 6.1 on apple.com?

changwei - Thanks, I tried your macupdate link and found a page for QT 6.1
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/7964
however if I click on more information, it links back to apple.com where I couldn't find 6.1 in the first place.
If i click on the QT Screen in th UL corner it tries to go to ...macupdate.com/download.php but doesn't do anything.
Has anyone else found QT 6.1?I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round.

goto http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone/ download the installer and run it. the stand alone version is always the newest, and the installer updates any existing version *without* using the software update thingy

Well, I tried humdinger's advice and it was still QT 6.0.2 V2 so I bit the bullet and reinstalled X.2 and now software update works so i am at QT 6.1 (Yeah) and I can sleep without crashing. Never did find the standalone though...
