weird fps and conversions lead to asynchs

hi. i have dl'd all of season 2 of 6 feet under. i followed the instructions here: https://www.videohelp.com/divxtovcd.htm (including using all the software mentioned - tmpgenc, virtualdub, etc) and at first got audio video asynch problems. i then reconverted them w/out extracting the audio to wav and the synch was better. but video was jerky.

also, my files mostly have a frame rate of 29.750. does this make a difference? i am at a loss as to what to do now... any advice on what to try would help. or at least what conversion template to use in tmpgenc may be a start. i am thinking i will extract the audio again (because on some where the synch seemed ok at the beginning, it slips as it goes along).

thanks a lot. i am nuts about this show and am getting super frustrated about having them on my computer but unable to get them to my tv!!!
