  1. Just wondering if any one else has had any problems opening avi's with Tmpgenc. It will always say that the file is unsupported. I can open the file with wmp and it plays fine. I've opened the avi's with g-spot and it says that I have all the correct codecs installed to open the avi. I've opened these files with older versions of tmpgenc. Currently I'm using 2.510. Also I've tryed raising the setting in tmpgenc with no help also.
Thanks in advance for the help.

If Virtual Dub can open the AVI, why not try to frameserve into TMPGEnc with it?
    Hello.

In TMPGenc click on the 'Options' menu and select 'Environmental Setting'.
Click on the 'VFAPI plug in' tab and make sure that one (or both) of the AVI readers (AVI VFW or OpenDML) is ticked and has a high priority, if they are not ticked then you will not be able to read any AVI's.

My TMPG won't open MPEGs anymore, "Unsupported, can not open" message. It used to do it.

    Bugger of a thing.
If you remember, let me know how you go.
    Thanks
    Sorry I couldn't help.

Yours could be a similar prob - for MPEGs to open the 'Direct Show Multimedia File Reader' plugin must be enabled in the VFAPI option.

    What codec did you reinstall?

Minchjp, Is there a connection between audio codecs and this problem?

    Something else, maybe related.
I have Cool Edit Pro 2.0, an audio mixing and recording program (very good)
It has "Extract audio from Movie" feature but this locks up at 99% of extraction. This is easily worked around so isn't really a problem.

Did you register TMPGEnc? If you did not, while you are waiting to get a registered code, go to the Tools section and get the MPEG-2 mod for TMPGEnc.
    Hello.

Have you recently installed any new programs or codecs? There may be a conflict in programs or codecs causing your problem. My version of TMPG worked fine until I installed codecs from ffdshow. After that all my conversions with TMPG were upside down. I also had numerous error messages. After I uninstalled the codecs, everything was back to normal. Bob's your uncle. 8)

I uninstalled my 2 channel PowerDVD and reinstalled an upgraded 6 channel version. It does say Cyberlink MPEG2 Decoder in the VFAPI, please see link. Does this look like it should work ?

Perhaps I should reinstall TMPG and see what happens.
I think I've also added Virtual Dub , HuffyUV and MJPEG codecs.

When you say u uninstalled the codecs, where they copies of codecs already on your PC, or where they unused codecs?

    Thanks
