  1. Hi. ive come across a bunch of .ogm files and i am unsure as to how to play them. Im ~100% sure that they are actually video files. Ive tried putting them into mplayer osx and it says they are playing, but i get no video or sound. Ive read that they may be products of the xVid codec. but im not sure. These files also came with .srt files, and im not sure as to what these are either. Any help would be appreciated.

  2. actually, scratch that. When i try to play it in mplayer, it doesnt allow me to put it on the playlist. when i drag it to the window, it changes the cursor to a copy symbol (normal cursor with a plus sign) when it goes over any movie files that are currently there.

btw, in case it is needed, heres my comp stats:
    400mhz G3 B&W tower
    256mb RAM
    60GB HD
    running osx 10.2.4

  3. I've come across some .ogm files too. I could play it using mplayer with no problem - just typed 'mplayer legitimate_movie.ogm' in the X11 terminal.

What I would like to know is the best way to extract the audio and video to something that ffmpegx or mediapipes understands. I used the '-ao' switch to get the audio dumped out as a wav successfully but wasn't so lucky with the '-vo' switch to get video. I tried to save out as an mpg but the file it produces was corrupt.
