Hi,
I have just purchased (within the last 24 hrs) a Pentium 4, 1.5 GHZ, 512 MB Ram, 20 GB HD (7200 RPM), 60 GB HD (7200 RPM), 16x CD-RW and the video card mentioned in the subject line.
My main interest is in making VCD's, either regular VCD, XVCD or SVCD's of existing VHS tapes of varying quality, ranging from some SLP speed tapes to recently taped SP quality off my dish.
With my setup, is it necessary or desirable to purchase another component (ie. a Dazzle product) or do you feel that with my existing setup I will be able to reproduce those tapes that are the same (or near) quality on VCD?
Thanks.

You shouldn't have any problem
Just make sure ya goto rage3d.com for latest drivers. I have the same card and capturing is flawless.

aim for SVCD. with the rage theater chip (which should be the capture chip on your card) you can do great quality realtime SVCD capture. (almost, you do have to demux/remux but that's just a few minutes per hour of video). we've posted how several times, so just run a search for the exact procedure. however, we're now recommending CBR captures for MPEG-2, since ATI's bitrate control is terrible, and VBR can cause some sync issues with some dvd players if the bitrate jumps above its maximum for too long.
