Multiple VCD'S on a single DVD-R

Does anyone know how to burn multiple VCD'S onto a DVD-r and still be able to play on my home DVD player. If you can I need to know how. Please point me in the right direction.

I would just make the .dat files mpeg1 compliant using vcd easy, connect all of them using tmpg, and author using ifoedit. Forget the audio conversion from 44 to 48. Dvd players can play 44.1 no problem on a dvd.

Make sure you re-sample the audio to 48000Hz as 441000Hz is not compatible audio for storing onto DVD.

I don't believe that is true. DVD can handle 44100.

any standards compliant dvd authoring app will reject 44KHz audio as its not part of the spec

assuming you can find an app that permits it then some player will play it others wont

tbh CIF MPEG1 is a bit fraught wehter the audio is compliant or not Although with 48Khz audio and written as a sytem- stream it IS part of the DVD spec theres plenty of players that have pretty poor firmware and dont adhere to the letter of the spec when it comes to handling those clips

eg out of dozen or so players we use for testing 7 have no issue with CIF mpeg-1 when placed on a DVD, 2 refuse to playt it altogether and the remainder play it squashed at top of the screen (yet none of them have ANY probs with same footage on VCD)

as far as space goes if this helps i made one vcd on dvd and its a total of 7hrs 16mins (used spruceup to make the disc)!!!!

I realize what you are saying about standards, however, I have made thse work on all three of my machines, a new sony, a 4 yr old sony and a sampo 120. I say try it on a dvd-rw if you are concerned. Nothing to lose in that case.

Also, I must say this. If your idea is to fit as much as you can on a dvd-r, I would do the following. Keep in mind, that I don't have that many vcd's so I can do this from scratch. If I capture a movie, I automatically capture in mpeg1 but change the audio to 48khz so that the authoring software will accept it. However, like I said, ifoedit will go either way.
