  1. First the specs:
    ATI All-In-Wonder 128 Pro Card
    Adobe Premiere 6.01
    Win2000 (Downloaded latest ATI Driverfrom ATI)

    When I select the capture properties in Adobe Premiere I get a message "Cannot Connect To The Capture Driver". Can anyone help? Also as an FYI I am going to capture analog off a VHS-C Camcorder. I think this works in Premiere.

    Thanks!

  2. I don't know anything about Premiere. But I have exactly the same card as you and had the same problem with other capture software, virtualdub etc.
    I solved it as follows:

    There are two types of capture drivers for Windows

    WDM (Windows Direct Media - the new type)
    VFW (Video for Windows, older but still a widely used standard)

    All new ATI capture drivers for win 2000 are WDM only. Unfortunately, many capture programs only work with VFW drivers. The solution is to use a wrapper file, called VFWWDM32.DLL. This file is supplied with win 2000 Service Pack 2, and emulates a VFW layer, so that all capture programs can then work even if the cards drivers only suupport WDM.

    -------------------------------------------
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\MediaResources\msvideo\MSVideo.VFWWDM]
    "Description"="Microsoft WDM Image Capture (Win32)"
    "Driver"="vfwwdm32.dll"
    --------------------------------------------

    Assuming you have the VFWWDM32.DLL on your system, Save the above fragment into a file, say "VFWWDM32.REG" and then click on it to import it into the registry. This then allows capture programs to recognise the card as a VFW device via the wrapper.

    Secondly, if the above does not solve the problem, then I take it you have installed the MMC software from the ATI site? The first driver link on the ATI site comprises of just the display driver. You need to download and install Multimedia Centre software, even if you sare not going to use it, just to install the capture drivers to install I think?

    Hope that helps

  3. Yendalf...Thanks for the info. I made the registry change as you suggested and it worked perfectly. Premiere and other apps recognize the card now.

    I still have a problem that maybe you can help with. In capturing VHS tape (NTSC) format, if I go above 320x240 resolution, I am dropping 1/3 of my frames. If I stick with 320x240 I don't drop a single one. I have read postings, tried all apps....Premiere, AVI IO, Videowave, ATI MMC, Virtual Dub with the Huffy and the PicVideo Codecs..everything and it seems I am stuck at 320x240. Anything ideas????

    Thanks again!!!!
