I have an XviD encoded avi which I want to convert to mpeg1 to play it on my DVD. My problem, TMPGEnc refuses to open the avi file ("...can not open or unsupported") and CCE just produces a distorted output file (but gives no error message).

According to G-Spot the movie uses the XviD and the ac3 codec, which I have both installed on my system. The video has an aspect ratio of 1.818:1 @ 23.976fps. The file plays without problems on my system using WMP. I just can't convert it using TMPEnc/CCE.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks, bUR

Yes, thanks. I figured it out myself in the meantime.

For those who might encounter the same problem:

I extracted the audio as ac3 using virtualdub, then converted it to wav using headAC3. Then I frameserved the video using virtualdub to TMPGEnc and used the wav-file as the audio source. That worked perfectly.

  4. I have the same probolem, but I cant open it in virtualdub either! But plays fine on wmp.

virtualdub flashes an error really fast, I think it says something along the lines of cannot find compressor xvid unknown.

tried nandub, and it wont even open, it says cannoy find vorbisfile.dll

Just install it. No idea how it works or what it does, but it sure helped me with every problem I had with XviDs, even if I had every codec needed installed.

  9. Go to https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=147444&highlight=xvid. Look for a post by gifted_retard. Follow his link and his instructions. If you have a valid xvid file you can change it to a divx file which V-Dub and TMPG can handle. I believe there are at least 4 different Xvid codecs that you can use. If you don't have the right one installed, you may not be able to load the video into V-Dub or TMPG. If you change it instead to a Divx file, you should have no problem. 8)
