  1. Im currently trying to update my sony dru500a from 1.0f to 1.0g, but everytime I click start it says I have to reboot my machine. I didn't have any problems applying the prior 2 updates. I have disabled dma, but still no luck in getting it to update . Im running windows xp, if anyone can provide any help it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Do you have any packet writing software installed? (DLA, Direct CD, B's Clips) If you do you need to uninstall them. I had DLA installed and would not update.
May the force be with you.

  5. Did not have any packet writing software installed... but i removed all the cdr apps i DID have installed, though it didnt help. I finally broke down and took the drive out of my Xp machine and put it into a 98se machine... worked on the first time.... guess thats the only way to get around it...

  8. I would think twice before doing this version 1.0g firmware update. I did the update and now my Sony DRU500A will not burn my 4x DVD-R media at 4x. It will only burn at 2x. Also I then tried burning a Verbatim 4x DVD+R disc which did burn at 4x but was unplayable about 3/4 of the way through the disc.

Anyone know how to get back to the original firmware version so I may use the 100 plus 4x DVD-R media I paid a ton of money for?

Thats exactly what happened to mine. All you have to do is fust reinstall the 1.0f firmware. Mine now works 100% @ 4x. You could try updating the pxengine from http://www.prassieurope.com/

Are you saying that by goint to your link, and downloading the PXENGINE (I don't know what that is), it will find or download the 1.f firmware for us to install?

I went to that site, and it does not list the Sony DRU500-A as a supported drive.

Any feedback on what the PXengine is, and how to get the 1.f firmware, is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Roger
