I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed that NICEBUD loves to slam Sony... Whatever.

Anyway, Micro$oft has released bad firmware updates in the past for the 360 as well.
As have countless other hardware manufacturers.
Shit happens.

According to Kotaku, the update is causing some controllers to malfunction, and in many cases, it bricks the system altogether. All Playstation 3 systems -- 20GB, 40GB, 60GB, and 80GB -- have an equal chance in having problems with the update, so no one is safe.

This part is quite bad though, as the firmware in game consoles is more like an operating system -- but who the **** is this Kotaku?

What I dislike the most about the firmware updates with the PS3 is that often times they are not voluntary. When I boot it up I get a message telling me there is an update and I am given no opportunity to decline.

Kotaku is a news site for gaming and electronics.

I don't like the mandatory updates either. To get around them you can disconnect the PS3 from the network. Obviously not the best solution when you want to play MP.

And to be equal bashing to both sides I do recall the old Xbox had a habit of catching fire, didn't they?

hehe, yeah. Some of the first release 360's had some fire issues as well.
I'd say a fire hazard is worse than a bricked console.
