Hi
I have converted an avi (Divx) to VCD with the correct template of the tmpgenc (VCD PAL) but the final mpeg has a problem: the video stops for a second or two (freezes) but the sound goes on. It occurs every four or five minutes. Then the mpeg works OK (video and sound) but a few minutes later it happens again.
The original avi is OK and in my PC the mpeg is OK too, but not in my TV DVD player
Any suggestion?

Hello,
I have the same problem as you...
Same problem after formatting....... (and without installing "strange" codecs").
I've solved changing tmpgenc!
Try to use Canopus Pro Coder with the CBR settings (to find your bitrate use Powerbit). (It works fine, really).
If your purpose is to make a DVD compliant file, after the conversion use Spruce UP to author the mpeg file.
This is the only solution I've found......
Just for curiosity... do you have an ATI card? (perhaps the media codecs installed by the Catalyst drivers creates the issue...).
Let me know.......

Hi
Yes I have an ATI card.
Perhaps a drivers' problem? I do not know
Sorry but I do not know the software you wrote: Canopus and Spruce Up?
Where to find?
Freeware or shareware?
Let me know -
same problem here , except the image freezes for the last 10 minutes of the mpeg
i have been trying to get an mpeg to burn properly for weeks now, it plays fine on the pc but keeps pausing when i burn to disc and play on the dvd player.
VCDEASY tells me its a non-mpeg1 audio stream (48000hz should be 44100)
also not the correct PAL format.
so i demuxed and put the audio and video in the source windows and went to settings/video and resized the pixels, went to audio and changed it to 44100 then hit start and nearly 4 hours later played it on the pc and it looks great.....except the video seems to lock up 10 minutes before the end while the audio keeps playing....WHY !!!!!!!
I cant understand why i cant burn something to disc (SVCD) that plays perfectly on the PC
Help please -
Hello,
both softwares are shareware...... (but with a bit of luck...)
Try to search for 'em with www.filemirrors.com (keys: Canopus and Spruce).
Effectively I had the impression that the multimedia drivers installed by Catalyst creates a lot of problems to Tmpgenc (I have an All In wonder radeon 9000; this card install its own multimedia codecs for the capture device).
This solution is surely slower than Tmpgenc but the quality is quite better and the resulting mpeg runs perfectly.
Just a tip: to see your authored DVD (or the mpeg file only) use PowerDVD instead of WinDVD.
I've verified that all the problems I've found with PowerDVD results on the burned DVD on the home player.
If I saw the same authored DVD with WinDVD all seemed to run fine (but it was not true....).
Let me know,
Marco
