  1. I am having BIG trouble converting a XviD/AC3 avi file to NTSC-Film SVCD 23,976fps. The problem is in the AC3 sound. I usually extract the ac3 using "Direct Stream Copy" in VirtualDub, and after that using Ciler's AC3Tool 1.0, I convert it to a standard Wav file, but this time it says that there is some sort of problem with some of the frames in the AC3 file. This sux. Using dos-based AC3fix I tried to fix the frames but it seems that ac3fix can't find the bad frames.
Now my big question is: Is there any sort of codec/plugin for Virtualdub or TMPGEnc, so that those programs can read the AC3 sound directly from the AVI file? Or is there any other programs that can fix bad frames in a de-multiplexed AC3 file? Better than ac3fix.
I use Virtualdub for encoding. I load subs for the movie in virtualdub and start a frameserver and then load it all into TMPGEnc.

I am desperate. Please help me. Used 3 hours online to find out nothing.

Try this link for several versions of Vdub, including AC3, mpeg and VBR-MP3 support: http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/virtualdub.html

Scan for bad frames, if there is some it will produce a log file with a list. Using the list and Vdub, edit them out starting from the highest numbered block first (the bad frame numbers will change if you don't), then save the AVI. Extract the sound and convert like usual. I like Goldwave to extract and convert mp3 and AC3 sound, just load the Avi then save.

  3. dont convert....just let TMGenc do it....but have it frameserved so that bad frames dont corrupt the audio stream.

I have some pretty good success.....however, if you want a perfection...then you have to use the guides here
