I have been using virtualdub to extract the .wav file from a divx .avi file for ultimate conversion into a DVD .mpg file using TMPGenc. When using virtualdub, I change the sampling rate to 44100 Hz because I thought that was what the guide on this site said.

If this is going to be an MPEG-2 DVD .mpg file, should I have changed the sampling rate to 48000 Hz? The DVDs that I have burned have had some crackling and popping and some audio dropouts when I play them in my standalone DVD player. Could this have caused the audio problems?

Thanks,
Brian
