  1. What is the best proggy to use for changing the framerate of a movie? I've got an xvid which is 23 fps but when my m8's watch it on there PS 2 it comes out in black & white, so I want to change to 25 fps without it becoming jerky so they can watch it in colour !!

Changing the framerate from 23 to 25fps will of course make the video shorter in runtime...alas not the audio, which will stay at the original length..therefore creating a huge video/audio sync problem...you will therefore also have to timestretch the original audio to match the runtime of the new 25fps video.

I often change NTSC film (23.976) to PAL (25fps) cos it plays better on my DVD player...its quite involved but certainly possible.

First extract the audio from the original movie with Virtualdub...open virtualdub, load the movie, then under audio tab select full processing, compression=none, coversion=change to 44100...then save as WAV.

Next, under audio, select No Audio, then under video tab select "framerate" and change to 25fps...then save as AVI.

You now need to timestretch the audio to the exact length of the new video...lots of programs can do this but I like Goldwave cos it seems to be more accurate in the resulting time to within 1/25th second or so.

You should now should have a 25fps movie and a WAV of exactly the same length...use these as the sources in whatever mpeg encoder you use.

By the way, if anyone knows of an easier way of doing this I'd be VERY interested to hear it!

If you select one of the templates in TMPGEnc doesn't it automatically convert the framerate? (Assuming you do not select "Do not frame rate convert.") Anyone know?

You've probably got "full processing mode" ticked under the video tab....you need "direct stream copy".
