  1. My friend bought a movie and it will play on my home DVD player, but my PC doesn't recognize it as a disc. My friend's laptop will recognize the DVD and play it, but two other PCs that I've tried will not.

The problem seems to be in either Windows 2000 or my Sony 500UL DVD drive. Where should I look to solve this problem?

  2. The Sony needs to have the region code set correctly if you have not done it up to now to play some discs.

Also see if you can see the files on the disc or if it is totally unreadable. Check for scratches also.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

  3. I had the same problem with my Sony. I had to play an original DVD to set the region.

  4. Thanks! When I get home tonight I'll give it a try.

BTW, the disc is clean, but is totally unreadable as if it were a blank DVD. Pushing the region code sounds like it will work...hopefully it's the missing piece.

    Thanks again.
