TV, VCD, DVD, Burning question

Okay, I have a DVD of a TV show (for the purpose of this thread, I'll use the Simpson's Season 1 DVD).

I'd like to be pointed to the appropriated pages to turn the DVD is several MPEG files (one file for each episode on the DVD), that can then be burned to a VCD (don't need to know about the burning, only the conversion).

I've tried this page, but DVD2AVI doesn't have one of the menus referenced, and TMPEG tells me the .d2v file that I created is unsupported

That tells me how to turn a DVD into a VCD. That's not what I need (directly). I would like to take a DVD with these episodes and pick out the ones I want to turn into VCDs. How can I tell which files on the DVD are the files I want?
