  1. I have a D311 (same thing as the 321) DVD RAM/R drive, and I'm trying to use it under WinXP.

The problem is that software applications don't seem to recognize it. When I try to burn a disc, I'm always told that I don't have a writable device available.

WinXP can see it (ie. I'm able to format discs and copy files to DVD-RAM discs). It's just the applications (so far PowerDirector and RecordNow) that complain.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  2. I had the same problem under Me, and I left a blank DVD in the drive during boot-up. After that, the PC knew it was a writable drive. It might also work under XP.

I had a similar problem with my 311 DVD-r/ram using NERO and win98se.

I found I had to be patient, give it time to recognize the blank. Then it would recognize the DVD blank. I would check the disk info as soon as it loaded, not recognized, BUT, if I waited a few moments after loading, disk info recognized it.

Frustraating at first until you learn about the delay.
