I have been working with a certain xvid file for two months and have finally achieved proper conversion!!![]()
New problem... Trying to author/burn the video and audio in dvdmf2 and I get a very strange message. When I load the video and audio, make the menu and am ready to go, the space required/space available says that 119 BILLION (yes billion) GB are needed on the hard drive, and 11 BILLION GB needed on the DVD+RW to burn the disc. Needless to say the program will not burn the disc.![]()
I've read about the problems others are having with dvdmf2, about how it won't accept any mp2 that it does not view as "compliant" or matching its templates. But their solutions have had nothing to do with this new beast. Anyone having the same problem? Any solution?![]()

Wow. I thought my message was ridiculous. I also assembled my TIVO sourced programs, cut out the commercials, created nice menus and was ready to burn. Movie Factory 2 displayed a message that 19.4 gigs were required and 18.6 gigs was available. Thinking that this was an error in calculation, I proceed to create the image file. After 4 hours of churning, MF 2 stopped with a ran out of disk space message. When I checked my HD properties, MF2 did use 18 Gigs for working space. Does anyone know why this happens and how to overcome it? My videos are about 3.5 hrs in time on a DVD-R created from Pan E30.
Thanks -
OK so I did a hard disk scan and other maintenance type stuff, uninstalled dvdmf2, reinstalled it, and everything was good to go. No more 100 billion GB required. So of course now there's a new message.
FAILED TO CONVERT VIDEO FILE
ERROR: 80041c21

Is this program just screwed? The file I'm trying to burn is mp2, 23.976 fps, 640x272, audio is uncompressed PCM .wav. In the preview screen the movie plays great, complete with audio sync and all. I think dvdmf2 is just plain fuct. Let me know if anyone has anyother insights.

Oh yeah- and I made sure to check the box for "do not convert compliant mpeg files". Still no joy...

hi
im trying to burn an xvid movie to dvd. Im converting video using tmpg, and the sound is captured using virtual dub. im burning using ULEAD DMF2 on a nec nd 1100a writer. My problem starts when i burn the movie. But the multiplexing takes place fine.
When the burn progress bar reaches the end, ULEAD seems to crash or hang. I waited 30mins previously and ended up cancelling task and rebooting. THis left me with a coaster.
Is this hang/delay at end of burn normal? should i wait it out (if so how long)?
IS this a common problem with ULEAD DMF2, or is it just my version?
And finally can this be overcome?????
Thanx in advance for any help -
Just a thought, but this happened to me. Did you set the program for the film type you're trying to author (i.e. NTSC, PAL)? I had previously authored a PAL video and forgot to set the program back to NTSC. When I tried to author an NTSC mpeg, on DVD Folder creation, I got a ridiculous amount of hard drive space required and it wanted to reencode the dvd compliant mpeg.

hi
thanx rico, ill give that a try. also is there anyway round the dvd lag, ie when playing the dvd the speed varies it lags and flickers. Im using tmpg to encode it, is there any reason for this, or anyway round it? im burning using ulead dmf2.
thanx -
Hello All,
just wanted to add an observation i have about MF2, i am a novice ( like many ) to the encoding bit but i have noticed that MF2 really canes your PC when encoding and its far better to make sure the files are complient via TMPGe etc before letting MF2 have them, also Windows XP handles the PC memory far better than other earlier versions, i noticed Windows 98 ran out of puff with MF2 encoding and trashed the DVD afterwards ( well i did for me every time with 98 and sometimes with XP )
