1. I have a problem with my Sony DRU500A- The first dvd-r Media i put in it didn't work, it failed when burning in Dvd Decyrpter. An error occured at 67%. THen after that, I didnt want anymore coasters happening so when i was testing an Image of a backup of a movie that i made from divx, the extention for Dvd decrypter i believe was .img, i don't want to risk using any other dvd-r burning app for the .img. I've tested also the Ritek and the Supermedia store brand as well as princo super dvd-r pro. ALL fail when i go to test
2. When i purchased my DVD-+r (sony Dru500a internal) I made it so that i could make it external by purchasing an exclosure kit (usb 2.0 kit)
But a funny thing i noticed was that all the dvd's i've burn before in the past takes literaly 1hr and 30-45mins to make? is this cuz i changed it from ide internal to external usb 2.0?
3. Does anyone know of a fuLL proof Process where they have converted divx and Xvid files to Dvd-r Complaint formats that could be supported in dvd players?. I've been through the daunting process several time but im in the midist of perfecting it. So far i've made 4 coasters out of 6. As you people know its expensive process so, if anyone knows please put a posting or a tutorial w/ pictures (mental thing, but it does help alot). I'm looking for 99.99-100% error proof if possible. If not sure i can help with process and help eliminate dvd-r coasters. I've looked through the forums and the dvd authoring sections at vcdhelp and they don't seem to be a 100% or close to it. I've figured out a 6 step process while learning this, but i'd like to hear someones input and see how they did theirs. Video is not a big issue when i convert but the audio is. Sometimes theres sync problems when make it to dvd-r. m2v and mpa to ifoedit and then burning with dvd-decrypter
4. Also im faced with several situations when converting to dvd-r.
divx and xvid movies that are in vbr , just got virtual dub mp3 program and extracts the audio prefectly fine. I
Another problem i face is that when i try to combine a LOTRTTT 3 divx files the are being stubborn and won't come togehter, i've tried using Mpg Rm joiner didn't work. Then i tried Virtual Dub and it seemed to work but the audio was terrible, it was totally off, Im sure i joined them in poper order as well. On top of that, i get errors through out the movie in Windows media player and divx player when i fast forward to the middle of the movie
5. Whats the best if not the best but user friendly and easy to navigate and understand program for dvd-authoring once u've got it to a dvd-complaint format? I see alot of people using Ulead Dvd. Question is how good is it for dvd-r? Anyone have extensive personal experience in this?????? or use it alot.
Thanks

For a 1st post you don't want muc do you? Anyway, here goes with my thoughts on your questions...
1) Don't have a sony drive or use dvd- decrypter so can't hep you there, sorry.
2) USB may limit the data transfer rate from the PC to the drive, try installing it internally for a while and see if it helps.
3) There is no such things as a fool proof proces for getting divx onto dvd-r that ANY dvd player is happy with. There are just too many variables for this to be possible. Carry on with what you are doing, learning and experimenting until you find the best methods for you, your PC, your software, your knowledge and don't forget your DVD player all have to be taken into cosideration.
4) I had a similiar problem (with a 2 part divx) and ended up ended up encoding each part seperatley and using 2 disks. A bit of a cop out maybe but I thought the end result was worth it. 2 disks a llowed for a higher bitrate and so better quality.
5) 'best' is very subjective. I use spruce a lot. Its basic but easy to use. I also use Dazzle DVD complete when I want fancier menus. Again easy to use but can be unstable.
I have tried Ulead DVD WS but I wanted to use if=t for motion menu's and it always crashes whilst rendering them, so I gave up as Dazzle does this for me.
Anyway, hope this helps
