Right I need a bit of help here, heres my situation:
In about 2-3weeks time I plan to start work on programming a new dvd9 to dvd5 program. The catch here is what the programs going to do and how I should go about doing it.
The main idea is to keep the the scene selection menus and audio selection menus, but NOT the extra features menus....
Does anyobody have a clue on how to remove a menu selection?????
Basically heres the program in steps:
1. let the user choose the buttons on the first page of the menu he/she would like to keep.
2. Using whatever process sudjested here, remove them buttons, leaving only the required buttons.
3. Using the core of a shutdown project called re-dvd, it will automate re-encoding of the main film.
4. Bung the whole lot together.
Anybody see any problems with that??
Oh yea and I ahevn't a clue how to program![]()
So keep the ideas coming plz!!!

Seriously do you know what you plan to use as your platform or anything?
I am a computer programmer, but have very little knowledge about the VCD/DVD aspect of how the files are code and can be recode. It obviously isn't that much if DVD2ONE can package it in such a small .exe. -
I used to program really old amstrade software.....
But we all got to start somehwere right??? Anyway apart from the gui for taking away the menu button, all the rest of the work is already programmed by another guy in another program, but its open source and he will let me have it.
So aprt from the small ammount of programming I still have to figre out how it can be done!!
DOES ANYBODY HAVE A CLUE HOW TO REMOVE AN OPTION FROM A MENU!!!! -

I dont know if professional DVD's are like this but in Maestro, the buttons are part of the background. Then there is a subpicture layer on top of that with the buttons highlighted. Then you draw which buttons to activate. So in otherwords you are asking for the impossible i believe, unless Hollywood studios use a different layer for each button.

Hum. Was think of this before IC pop out and after trying DVD2One demo.
Simply drop all except the movie and cookup you own Menu in the program, organise and put into a folder for a burnner to use.
Basically Allow the user to pick a still from the movie for the background, have some non-descript picture or user selected picture {Jpeg or bin }. Have four or six "buttons" per page from still at the chapter points you find and decode from the vob. Auto or Manual select these to get past transisions if nessary. Drop into a specified directory and let the user pick their own burn software.
Future would allow animated menus and music.
Could do a pass in VB to try it out but do the final in VC.
Good luck. -

In other words, you guys are trying to reinvent the wheel. If you're going to go to the trouble of creating a new product, find a hole in the market that no one has filled yet. Then you'll be going somewhere. -

GAWP! LOL
Considering my husband's sense of humor, I should know better by now. -
Right but lets forget about the programming for a moment.
I am thinking more and more about how this menu thingy works...
There must be a line or something which tells the dvd player that there is a button in a certain place, that would mean we would only have to delete that line. Th question is where is it stored and how would we delete it??

go to doom9 forums and search for a very small proggy uploaded called "menuedit"
it allows u to remove menu items very easily -
Not sure about Dazzler product but was thinking of a automated system.
Be intersting to see Dazzler system. Think Studio 8 does the same thing. -
Any takers on adding a few lines to an old piece of vb software??
-
I admit that I have given up on the idea for programming for 3 reasons.
1. too much downloading, I am on 56k!!!
2. too much learning!!! I am at school as it is!!
3. IT HAS ALREADY (ALMOST)_BEEN DONE!!
By already been done I mean that redvd (which has been stoped in development) is already capable of doing all this stuff, it only needs a few lines so that it can be used for menu edit, thats it.,
So if anybody out there knows VB and is willing to help post here.
Baker -
welll great news!! menu edit works just fantastically!!
However it looks like it would be impossible to automate so it would be best have menuedit pop up and let the user choose which button to be disgarded.
So is there anybody out there willing to change a few lines of a vb program???plz, It only has to open menu edit and also edit the bitrate calcs a bit as they would still account for the extras.
Thanks!

so basically you havent gotten a clue yourself on how to do anything - you simply just want everybody else to deliver various pieces of freeware, sourcecode, vb programming, ideas, and everything else needed, then you put a package together and start selling it on the internet like all the other scams around that leaches on other peoples hard work ??
-
remove that m8 or u will probably be banned

Let's not attack each other or the thread will be locked
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin' -
I must admit to swearing alot around here and never having any problems but if you want rid of it ok.
By the way how removed it????
On to bussiness-
This guide of mine is looking very promising, the whole thing is working out very well I must say. I have removed the buttons from shrek then simply del'ed the vobs containg extras and it worked!!! However the whole thing is still 5gigs so thats were dvd2dvdr comes in to reencode it then the menu can be added later.
