  1. Hi guys

it took me ages to convert a divx file into a mpeg 2 format so it is compatible to burn to dvd - r. I used tmpgenc to convert and set the max bit rate to 4000. the end result was a 3.42GB file. However when i load this into movifactory it says the file size is 6GB????? it has no chapters or anything just one long movie? why has the size changed so much. is there anyway to get this to burn to a dvd without having to convert again i cant stand to do it again, takes me 8 - 9 hours. help please

also the file has no audio, what format does it have to be in to let me add it to the movie file?

    cheers

  2. Mate, I'm pretty sure you have to make a seperate audio file for the movie using Virtualdub. It's got to be a WAV file. Then you encode the two files (video and audio) together using Tmpegenc. Try setting the conversion size to something like 50-60% of the dvd storage, then it should fit on the dvd.

Hope this helps, I'm new to this also so I may be wrong on some things.

you could multiplex (under mpeg tools in tmpgenc) with no sound file, and it will make a dvd ready .mpg file with no sound, that may fix the wierdness.

  4. The answer to your problem lies in the settings. If you change the settings for your video, to correctly match the settings you encoded with, then it will show the proper size.

The problem I have is that DMF2 ALWAYS wants to re-encode the movie, even if I check the box telling it not to. I encode with TMPGenc, using the NTSC DVD template, although I do adjust the bitrate. I don't know if this makes it non-compliant, but it shouldn't. But, for some reason, DMF2 always re-encodes it. Pi$$es me off.

the 3,42GB M2V file is only the video part of your movie,
the audio is another WAV file that is probably more than 1GB,
that would be more than 4,3, the capacity of the single layer DVD
when you are importing the M2V file, you are importing it together with the WAV one, you are just not prompted for it, its automaticaly!

but that is still less than 6GB...

Just a thought.Make sure your working folder is clear of other projects and files. I had a message saying insufficient disc space before burning a 3Gb to a blank DVD all because other video files were in the working folder.
